Thor: Love and Thunder has been eagerly anticipated by fans, and while many Marvel films are epic in scope, it appears that the latest instalment may be a little shorter than predicted.
On July 8, one of the most eagerly anticipated films of the year will be released, and we can’t wait.
As we wait for the film to be released, questions have arisen, such as whether our favourite trickster deity Loki will make an appearance. Is Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor as ruthless as she seems? And, like so many Marvel movies, will it be a three-hour epic?
We can definitely answer one of those queries, and we’re sad to say it’s not the one concerning Loki.
It’s the fact that the movie will be Marvel’s shortest in years.
Yes, the new Thor picture is one hour and 59 minutes long, according to AMC and Cineworld movie listings.
To put things in perspective, Avengers: Endgame lasted three hours and one minute.
Still, the length of the picture has nothing to do with its quality, and we’re confident that Thor will not disappoint.
Fans of Twitter, on the other hand, were sceptical, with one simply saying, “Needs to be 59 hours, this is too minimal.”
Another person added: “On the surface, it appears that this will be far too short. It didn’t have to be 3 hours, but 2 hours 15 minutes to 2:30 always feels like enough.”
A third person added their two cents: “It reminds me of the 2000s, when the majority of Fox’s Marvel flicks (X-Men, Fantastic Four) lasted approximately 1hr45mins. X-Men fans hoped The Last Stand would be longer than 2 hours when it was released in 2006. However, it was 1hr45mins long, with a half-hour of scenes deleted from the movie.”
One person even went so far as to say they were ‘lied to,’ re-sharing an Instagram post from Chris Hemsworth claiming the film will be ‘a full two hours,’ despite the fact that it only lasts a minute and a half.
One even made a compelling case for the ideal length of a film: “Can we all agree that a movie’s best runtime is roughly 2 hours and 15 minutes? Not too long, not too short, and just long enough for some nonsense to appear in the Love and Thunder.”
“Finally a movie with (hopefully) a proper runtime, everything these days seems to be padded for no reason,” others said, while others praised the news.
Whatever your feelings about the length of the Love and Thunder, we’ll be there on opening night for one hour and 59 minutes of Thor awesomeness.
